DescriptionBorn in Auburn, California, Jack Laycox forged a distinctive career as an oil painter and especially as a watercolorist following his college years at UC Berkeley and San Francisco State College. His first job was producing technical illustrations for the Atomic Energy Commission. His fine art works, in a style developed over a lifetime of bold experimentation, are uniquely expressive, with his use of bright colors evoking a sense of joy as well as sophistication. Paris’s "La Revue Moderne" pronounced them “dynamic, vivid, animated and pulsating...an exciting experience.”On View
