DescriptionMilford Zornes’ 100-year-long life included a prolific career as a leading artist in the California Scene painting group. Born in Oklahoma, he moved with his family to California as a teenager, and attended Otis Art Institute (now Otis College of Art & Design) where he later taught art. In 1932, he attended Pomona College and took classes with Millard Sheets at Scripps College in Claremont. Despite contracting macular degeneration in his mid-80’s and with deteriorating vision, Zornes continued to paint up until his death. One day after his 100th birthday, he taught an art workshop in Pasadena, standing for two hours in front of a crowd of 250 admirers. This undated watercolor depicts the famed Avalon Harbor on Catalina Island. On View
