DescriptionHardy Gramatky is probably best known to the public as the author of the children’s classic book Little Toot. He also worked at the Walt Disney Studio for six years in the 1930s, where he was an animator on many Mickey Mouse and other shorts (Disney later would animate Little Toot, as part of the 1948 feature Melody Time). Gramatky was a gifted watercolorist and all-around painter, as shown in this painting of the beach at San Pedro, with its strong horizontals and the interesting scattering of figures on the beach.
