DescriptionPhil Dike, with his supremely facile handling of the very difficult watercolor medium, gives us a bird’s-eye view of a scene showing fields of colorful flowers near Rincon, on the way north to Santa Barbara. Hemmed in by the hills to the right and the ocean and strip of beach houses to the left, the fields capture and hold the eye.

Phil Dike was noted as an exceptional art teacher, co-founder with Rex Brandt of the Brandt-Dike School of Art, and as one of the leading exponents of California Scene painting.
