DescriptionBentley Schaad was dedicated to the advancement of still life painting. As a young artist, Schaad studied at the Claremont Colleges and exhibited his art in Los Angeles around the 1950s. Later, he was hired by Millard Sheets to teach painting at Otis Art Institute. Schaad wrote a popular instructional text, "The Realm of Contemporary Still Life Painting", published in 1962.-Gordon McClelland
