DescriptionThe tabletop was Phil's favorite place to paint, allowing full accurate perspective of the subject to be created as he stood over the image and was free to make his brush strokes fly. There was a sheet of glass covering the top of this table, which allowed him to saturate a sheet of good watercolor paper and lay in washed. As the paper dried and especially on a hot Claremont day he would begin to do overlays of detail and shadow. On View
