DescriptionARTIST’S STATEMENT: The hunting of whales and their potential extinction have always been areas of concern for me. The motto here is ironic, because the whale is not too big to fail. Whales can be hunted to extinction. And these things in the background – the balloon dog, the pyramids, Mount Fuji – will all be eroded and disappear at some point, but the whale could go much sooner than that, unfortunately. The style of the waves is influenced by Japanese woodblock prints, which I have collected in the past.
