DescriptionARTIST’S STATEMENT: There are a lot of different storybooks and stories in this. This background is one of the most extreme versions of the William Harnett background. The stripes reference Frank Stella, his linear works, but my take on them, creating a little three-dimensional environment, a little alcove in which I place some of my favorite things: the books I read as a boy or that I’ve collected because of the covers. Some of the surrounding toys and the Felix cats are laughing – they’re saying “don’t take this too seriously.”
